We Live in a Sweat Box

Hooray for making it to Wednesday!

I woke up bright and early and headed to the gym to try a new class called Morning Warrior. The description from my gym’s website describes the class as: For the early risers who like to get a strong morning pump! Energize your day with this high intensity cardiovascular and strength training class, focusing on proper form and athletic drills. And a strong morning pump it was! Heh heh. It was definitely a fun energizing way to wake up. The music was great, and the instructor is high energy, so maybe it will become part of my workout regime?

Backing up a little bit, last night Jamie had his first soccer game and won 3-0!

His excitement.

My excitement. From a horizontal position, but I promise I was still very excited. ;)

So yesterday Jamie and I had something arrive in the mail that we have been longing for.

Our dehumidifier and cooler!

You see, we live in a tiny, windowless sauna of a room.

Ok, I lied. We do have a window.

To our tiny, windowless kitchen.

Being that we have no windows, we couldn’t order a normal air conditioner, since those all need outside air. So, instead we got this bad boy. We are hoping it will least help with the stuffiness the constant humidity causes.

Well, we turned it on and…

basically it just added the sounds of some sort of factory to our room. It actually reminds me of documentaries I’ve watched on yarn factories (haha, random) with the sound of mills running. Or a truck that has zero engine power and cannot make it up the hill. Actually, it’s funny because when you turn it from low (loud) to high (extremely loud) it really sounds like a dying truck shifting gears.

So, we are going to give it a whirl today (while no one is home and has to risk their sanity listening to it) and see if it dehumidifies our room while we’re gone. It’s too loud to sleep with it on, so this will be it’s first real test. It has 15 days to show us it’s stuff, otherwise we’re giving it the boot.

In fact, we basically had to yell at each other to have a normal conversation! I actually think it’s all very hilare. I told Jamie, “it’s like we’re in some torture chamber with heat, no air, and no light, and now we’ve added loud noise to up the ante”. I then proceeded to laugh like a loon on loon tablets (anyone remember Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging?! LOVED those books!). I think maybe the noise induces insanity in me almost instantaneously ;)

On to more exciting news…

Happy Birthday Justine! You are a wonderful roommate and friend, and I could not be happier with our chance to live together. I hope you’re 23rd year is your best yet!

Justine is a rock star and just finished her first year of law school and is now interning for the summer here in NYC. Give her a birthday shout out and congrats on all her accomplishments so far! :)

Off to tackle the day! Have a great Wednesday!

Cheers,

L

Is that window to the outside? You could always try and get an air conditioner unit that has a snake (hose) that goes out the window.

I would like to see more pictures of your apt. Please and thank you! <3

Danielle! Haha, no it is a window to our kitchen, which, low and behold also doesn’t have any windows. It’s a dark, stuffy, sweaty space. We have tried thinking of all sorts of ways to snake a hose to no avail. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

      More pictures on the way:)
